Pop Up Shop up and running in Ballyhaunis!

Welcome to the first day of our Pop Up Shop!

Located in Ballyhaunis, we are open 10am to 5pm daily from today Monday 6th November 2017 to Friday the 10th November 2017.

As you can see here we’ve included a little sneak peak of a small selection of what we have to offer that has been kindly donated to us to raise funds for the animals in the care of the Mayo SPCA CLG and those animals who will need us in the future.

We are very lucky to have the opportunity for a Pop Up and we have lots of goodies in the store for you to choose from……

Do you like quirky? well, we have some of that?
Maybe a Christmas or birthday present for that person who has everything we all know one or two?
Maybe you would like to spruce up the Christmas dinner table for a bargain with some new crystal glasses? Just think of the bubbles fizzing against that sparkle.
We also can’t forget our four legged friends we have some bits and pieces for them too, also yes we have that longed for item “the cuddley toy” 🐻
So pop over, pop in and have a look at the Mayo SPCA “POP UP”
As you know Pop Ups are only around for a short amount of time and we really want to raise as much as we can, so in order to do this we need you our lovely friends and followers to come and support this venture… Bring along yourselves, friends and family, maybe even your neighbours and see what treats we have in store.

Each and every euro/ cent raised over the next couple of days will be used for the upkeep of the animals currently in the care of the Mayo SPCA CLG and those yet to come.

These events are so crucial to the animals of Mayo in their time of need and it enables us as volunteers to continue helping the abandoned, lost, neglected, and cruelty of our furries who have found themselves alone.

The funds themselves go towards
🐩 Heating and lighting making sure they stay warm and snug.
🐕Medical bills for when they feel under the weather.
🐩Neutering/microchipping costs, trying to minimise the unwanted babies that are left daily to fend on there own or those who find themselves without their human.
🐕Feeding/dietary requirements.. as you can imagine with 40 + cats and 20+ kittens, 7 dogs and pups we have a good few mouths to feed twice a day and we go through lots of wet and dry food to ensure they have good full content bellies.
🐩Transportation to and from veterinary appointments.

These are a few of the daily bills that the sanctuary incur and your support with fundraising events like this helps us volunteers give the animals what they need and we can’t Thank You enough for your support and we look forward to seeing you in the shop soon.

Winter Warm Campaign

Last year our electricity bill for the winter months amounted to over €1700. We had quite a few sick animals that required heat lamps around the clock and our washing machine and dryer never stopped. The darker evenings during winter meant that indoor and outdoor lighting had to be switched on earlier.

We anticipate that this year’s bill for electricity will be something of the same order. With this in mind we are appealing to staff members in local schools and other workplaces to contribute just €1 each at your Friday morning break.
We will provide a poster and collection box for your staff room or canteen.

Anyone that would like to get involved please email

Thank you all for your support

This poor little girl was found tied to someone’s gate with no collar-just a chain around her neck.  We have called her Leah and she is about six months old-very nervous and on the thin side.

Leah is still very nervous but with the help of the wonderful volunteers, is gaining confidence in people and learning to enjoy life.  She will need a home with experienced owners and a secure garden in order to help her feel safe.

She is a really lovely dog with a beautiful spirit. Please contact us if you would like to meet her.

Michelle Courtney, a brilliant foster Mom to many MSPCA cats and dogs is a visual artist and printmaker.  She has been working on some fundraiser pieces which she is very kindly donating for auction. All monies raised in this auction will go to the animals of the Mayo SPCA CLG and Michelle has kindly accepted the cost of postage if the winning bid is overseas.

So we have been given these 3 bright and colourful canine portraits to auction to the highest bidder.  They are all limited edition original acrylic on canvas paintings that will not be replicated and will be signed by Michelle herself.

Bidding will start from today and will run until 9pm Wednesday 6th September 2017!

We have chosen to start the bidding at €15 euro and the highest bidder for each painting will be announced on Thursday 7th September 2017.
The winner will be notified via Pm and Payment method will then be arranged with you via either paypal/cheque /postal order or cash if local to Ballyhaunis and secure delivery scheduled.

This is a great opportunity to add to your art collection or maybe a birthday present, or perhaps dare we say a christmas present for that special someone you know who loves dogs.

Pictures will be numbered 1, 2 and 3 and bidding comments are to be placed under the photo of the piece you wish to bid for.

Good luck and happy bidding and remember everything raised goes straight back to the animals in our care.

Acoustic Sessions Gig in Westport this weekend!

Four young local Mayo musicians-Matt Taylor, Sarah Deegan, Grainne Fahy and Joshua Dowling will be tantalising us with renditions of some of our favourite tunes along with some of their very own original songs.

What better way to round off a bank holiday than spending the Monday evening listening to the talent of these guys in such a wonderful famous musical setting with all proceeds kindly being donated to the Mayo SPCA CLG.

A raffle will also be taking place on the night during the interval so you may even have the opportunity to win a wonderful prize that has been kindly donated by shops and locals of Westport.

We look forward to seeing you all there on the night
