Heidi

Beautiful Happy Ever After story from Geri:
‘Hi I’m finally going to do a success story on Heidi.
I will never forget the first time I saw Heidi, she was hiding in the back of the kennel not interested in anything around her. I offered to foster Heidi in the hope of bringing her out of her shell and getting her ready for her forever home. When she first came to live with me she wouldn’t eat or drink, walk on the wooden floors or make any eye contact with you.
She was a completely different dog when we went out for walks, much more confident in herself, I had only had her about two months when I let her of the lead on one of our walks, she was so well behaved and is hardly ever on a lead now!!! Heidi and my other dog have such a close bond and I decided that I couldn’t split them up.
In the two years I’ve had her she has come on so much, her confidence has grown and she know plays with toys. I couldn’t of asked for a better dog, and I am so greatful to Marian for everything she did for Heidi!!’ (April, 2016)

A beautiful update from Geri about Heidi who was a very nervous and traumatised girl and blossomed with time, great care and TLC.
“I took Heidi as a foster 9 years ago today. The 1st picture there is her 7 years ago and the rest are from this year. She’s the best girl and we’ve been through so much together. We said goodbye to her faithful companion (coco) this year. I was so worried she’d be lost without her but shes doing ok with now being an only dog!!!” (May, 2023)

“I’ve had Heidi over 11 years now, picked her up from you on the 3rd of may 2014. You said she was about 6ish when I took her. She doesn’t walk very far now, won’t go on walks. She doesn’t go groomers anymore cause she can’t get in the car. She’s fully deaf now as well”
Thank you so so much to Geri and family for giving Heidi such a wonderful life and a happy relaxing retirement ❤️🐾 (December, 2025)

Heidi was adopted 12 years ago, a traumatised dog who went on to live her very best life with Geri and family. We are so very sorry for your loss 💔
“So today we had to make the hard decision to let Heidi go. 12 years ago this frightened little girl came into my life as a foster dog. With Coco’s help and a lot of patience Heidi finally started coming out of her shell. She loved being outside and was a completely different dog when outside. She loved the freedom of being able to explore around her without being constricted to a lead unlike her pal Coco who never got trusted off the lead!!! I knew if I called her she’d be back by my side in a heartbeat. Everyone asked me when we started having children what about the dog? You won’t be able to trust her around the baby, she’s a rescue. Not once did she ever growl at any of the kids even when they’d climb all over her. I even think she appreciated going deaf in her later years so she couldn’t hear all the temper tantrums 😂😂
I even think today that she knew what decision I’d had to make. She sat right in front of me at the vets, and when we were called in to the room she stood straight away and followed me in.
I hope Coco was waiting for you and maybe even Tessa was there. Rest easy girl, you deserve it ❤️” (May, 2026)
