Mozart (now Neo)
Mozart arrived at the centre himself at around 10 months old.. Maybe he heard that cats find amazing families and forever homes when they turn up here 
He is a complete furball and needs a good groom after all his long adventure to get here 
A really wonderful update from a fantastic home:
“I wanted to give an update about one of the kitties, Mozart we adopted on 25 May 24. He’s truly settled in, we renamed him to Neo as our cat called Momo would come when we called for Mozart, as the names were too similar. He loves his new name and made great friends with Momo. He loves his play time and regular snack times. He’s affectionate, silly and full of energy. He’s slowly exploring the garden and made it to the roof today.”

Gromit (now Ficko)
Gromit is a patterdale terrier mix who arrived from the pound. This breed are known for being extremely loyal companions. They are very inquisitive by nature and have an independent streak. They are high energy and need a lot of physical exercise and mental stimulation. Volunteers said that Gromit and Atlas were such good buddies in the shelter.
In August 2024 he was eight months old and was described by volunteers at the shelter as: ‘He is quite small in size and loves being outside exploring and sniffing the yard. He mixes well with all the other dogs at the centre He is adored by all the volunteers and everyone loves spending time with him Gromit is such a lovable character he loves to play tug, fetch and chase. He always brings the toy back and drops it for you to throw again. He is brilliant on the lead and loves his walks.’

Atlas (now Ruan):
Atlas was one of the litter of border collies that was found outdoors alone, abandoned and frightened at the start of April, 2024. They were only 6 weeks old and should still have been with their mother 
. All of the other puppies were adopted and Atlas was the last to find his forever family.

Described by volunteers at 10 weeks old: ‘He is cheeky and playful and full of energy & like all puppies he is a blank canvas and will become what you teach him to be.'(Apr, 2024)
Described by volunteers at 4 months old: ‘He is a such a great puppy. He is very playful and only gets into the odd big of mischief

At about five months old, Atlas very successfully completed his introduction to Mantrailing today with Oracle Dogs . We are so proud of him and he fully deserved his snooze on the way home!
At five months he was described by volunteers:

And he LOVES chilling out. He is the most relaxed puppy we have ever had

Ruan (formerly Atlas) who came to a Oracle Mantrailing Intro was going to come to classes this month with Mayo SPCA volunteers but he got a new home and his humans booked him into the classes so Gromit got the SPCA space instead. Turns out they were besties at the shelter and after they hit it off together Ruan’s lovely new owners have now given Gromit a home too. They must have been destined to be together .

Ruan (was Atlas) and Ficko (was Gromit) are both former Mayo SPCA dogs who have a fantastic new home together and they spent most of the day snoozing in the car together between turns after a big weekend away (September, 2024).

The most wonderful update on three fantastic boys:
Marian our three boys have settled in well, their scared and timid selves are now a distant memory. We intended to adopted one kitty and four months later we are proud parents of two pups and a kitty and grateful how this all unfolded. Ficko (aka Gromet) is loving his new life and his love affair with balls, toys and bones! It really helped him to have Ruan (aka Atlas) around and nearly two months later he’s outgoing, cheeky and very clever. He’s come such a long way. Ruan has grown a lot in size and character, he’s getting the hang of stalking, herding us and anything that moves including our neighbours children who adore them a lot. He’s got a fan club anywhere he goes. He’s a real pup up to all sorts of mischief including chewing his bed to pieces and playing tug of war with my socks! The two of them love playing hurling and digging holes and they love mantrailing! Neo (aka Mozart) loves the pups company and chases them around, he’s grown into a big cat. He’s extremely affectionate, loves lap time and purring.They are a joy to be around with their loving and mischievous nature!
