Volunteering in the Cattery

Our volunteers are fundamental to keeping the rescue going. With often more than 100 cats in our sanctuary, our cat volunteers are so important:

“Apart from one doggy shift my shifts have been with the cats & kittens …the volunteer work is about the shelter & precious animals so I will go where needed whilst I would prob love to work more with the dogs I find it dwells terribly on me & 3 weeks later I still can’t stop thinking about a home for them especially Jack who has my heart. I am prob better with the felines because of this BUT , I will go wherever needed.”

“Before volunteering at the rescue I was very wary of cats, I wasn’t very comfortable around them and was going to help with the dogs but due to shortage I was helping with the cats and how wrong I was about them! Every kitten and cat up there is so lovely and have their own personality and I thoroughly enjoy spending time with them now, cleaning feeding petting and having the chats with them! ❤️ Really opened my Eyes!”

“As a volunteer you get to forget what is going on the world and live in an animal bubble for 3 hours. Stimulation is very important for the animals. Today I was a kitten scratching post. 4 kittens decided it was great fun climbing up my jeans. Then Dave our 3 legged cat decided he wanted all my time and in return I got loads of cuddles. Such a pleasure to be a volunteer in their world ❤️❤️“

“Arrive just after the cats have been fed, they’re now fired up after a good night’s kip and a fab breakfast. A couple of hours of scooping poop, sweeping floors, cleaning pens, then cuddles and games with the cats. Guaranteed to go home with a big old smile on my face”
